Activity 3

/ Listening Text -Speaking Text -Reading Text

-Writing Text /

1-Pre-Listening.

Learners check the title and the pictures that

describe the text to answer a simple question:

Guess, what does the listening text talk about.

2-During Listening

Learners in 3 groups, read the text twice:

1-Extensive listening or reading for skimming to

get the main idea of the text.

2-Intensive listening to get the specific details

of the passage information.

3-Post listening:

Learners work in 3 groups to answer the 3

exercises on the listening text. They answer the 3

exercises as problems that need solutions or as

projects to do.

4- The fourth group evaluates the other 3 groups

answers.  The teacher monitors, observes,

supports and checks  the answers.

Activity 4:

The learners are divided into 4 groups to do the

following activities:

Doing Projects and Solving problems:

1- Group one:

Learners sing a sporting song

2-Group 2:

Learners answer a sporting quiz

1. Which athlete set new British indoor records for the

mile, 1500m and 800m at the start of the year?

A: Jemma Reekie

2. Which French side did Exeter Chiefs beat to win

their first European Rugby Champions Cup?

A: Racing 92

3-Which Egyptian player got the most sporting prizes

in the UK?

A: Mohammed Salah

3-Group 3:

Learners play a sporting game

Horse Race

Materials: alphabet : Flash Cards

Time: 6-8 minutes

Receptive Language: instructions, alphabet

Productive Language: alphabet

Game Explanation:

Arrange the students in a straight line, side by side.

Distribute an alphabet set among the students,

making sure that each student receives the same

amount of cards. Each student places their cards,

face up, in a line leading away from them

(make sure that the lines are evenly spaced).

Call out a letter (you can either pick one at random or

go through the alphabet in order). If a student has that

letter as the next one in line (i.e., not anywhere along

their line, but directly in front of them), they take a step

forward & stand on top of the letter. The first student

to reach the end of his line wins.

Note: This game can also be played in teams.

Be sure to call out the letters slowly and clearly.

4-Group 4: Doing critical reports

Learners evaluate the 3 other projects of the 3 other

groups. I monitor,

observe, support and check.
