The Office of English Language Programs in
Washington, D.C. provides academic expertise,
advisory and consultative assistance, as well
as materials and resources worldwide. All
programs are implemented by Regional
English Language Officers (RELOs) at
American Embassies or
Consulates.
Programs and resources administered through
our office include English materials, distance
education programs, and teacher training
workshops. For more information or to receive
these resources in your area, please contact
your RELO. We encourage you to explore our
website and check back regularly for updates
and new resources.
Our Teaching Topics collection is a living index
page of links to resources on often-taught
subjects. On each, I have collected some of
the best, most useful Times materials I could
find on that topic — including lesson plans,
related articles, multimedia,
themed crosswords
and archival materials.
In a sense, they’re Times Topics for the
classroom.
I am constantly adding more, so
bookmark this page and visit often!
And if
there’s a topic you’d like to see me add,
please tell me.
Read articles written by teachers for
teachers, with classroom ideas and
activities,
plus suggestions for professional
development. Let's start
learning about them
in our workshops and exchange our self-
reflection
then, select what fit us to be
implemented inside our classrooms.
Each idea below can be used by any teacher.
Where necessary, an activity includes
separate directions to the
teacher, though
most are self-explanatory enough to be
handed directly
to students.
